The Oscar winner credited his sister Deidra Dixon with rushing him to a hospital in Atlanta, where a doctor diagnosed him as having “a brain bleed that’蝉 led to a stroke.” They also said he would die without surgery, Foxx recounted in his special, Jamie Foxx: What Happened Was. He said the ordeal began with a headache, saying he’d asked a friend for an aspirin but ended up being “gone” for 20 days. “I don’t remember anything,” Foxx said. When he woke up on May 4, he said, he was in a wheelchair and unable to walk. Foxx also recalled his shock when friends told him what happened to him, joking: “Jamie Foxx don’t get strokes.” He continued his recovery at a rehab facility in Chicago. At the time of his illness, Foxx had been filming a Netflix movie in Atlanta—his daughter, Corinne, wrote on social media that her dad had suffered a “medical complication” but did not immediately disclose the severity of his emergency.

Trump has promised to sign an executive order on his first day in office imposing 25 percent tariffs on goods arriving from Canada and Mexico, supposedly in response to drugs and illegal migrant crossings.
During an event Monday, Trudeau acknowledged the tariffs would be “devastating” for the Canadian economy but pointed out they would wreak havoc on the U.S. too, as the taxes would be paid by American companies that would then pass on the costs to buyers.

Trump World operatives apparently had an even bigger reason to exhale.
According to a report in Politico, the president-elect’蝉 team thought if Hegseth’蝉 bid was “sacrificed” to Ernst, it would cause a domino effect in the Republican ranks that could jeopardize the prospects of other controversial nominees, including Kash Patel, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Tulsi Gabbard.

The trailer for 28 Years Later, which dropped Tuesday on YouTube, is leaving fans wondering if Cillian Murphy, the Oscar-winning actor who led the original film as Jim, is making an undead comeback.
Fans have been quick to notice the glaring absence of Murphy on the cast list, despite his credits as executive producer.

“The Instagram posts from nutbag people, which I was sent in the commercial break earlier: crazy,” she said, of online support for Luigi Mangione, who was charged with murder in connection with the killing of UnitedHealth Care CEO Brian Thompson on Monday. “Like he’蝉 cute and this and people celebrating this, this is a sickness. Honestly it’蝉 so disappointing, but I guess we shouldn’t be surprised.”
The host then immediately teed up the next segment to follow a commercial break: “Up next, the other big news out of New York, Daniel Penny. A lot of people think he’蝉 a hero and tonight he’蝉 not guilty.”

The actor and comedian struggled to hold back tears as he explained the mystery illness that left him unable to walk and needing emergency brain surgery.
“Your life doesn’t flash before your face, it was kind of oddly peaceful,” he told a hushed audience in Atlanta, the city where the medical drama unfolded in April 2023 while he was filming the movie Back in Action with Cameron Diaz.
]]>Tony Buzbee, the Texas-based attorney representing over 120 accusers of Sean “Diddy” Combs, has a new celebrity target in his sights.
Jay-Z (real name: Shawn Carter) was named over the weekend as one of three allegedly complicit celebrity participants in the rape of a 13-year-old girl at a post-MTV Video Music Awards party in 2000. The suit, first filed in October, originally only named Combs and referred to the other two celebrities present with pseudonyms. Buzbee, who represents the plaintiff in the suit, said that he’d requested a “mediation” with Jay-Z before naming him in the suit. The identity of a third female celebrity remains unknown.
According to The Blast, Jay wasn’t the only high-profile person Buzbee sent “demand letters” to, requesting that they settle out of court or risk being named in a lawsuit. Weeks before Jay-Z was named in the suit against Combs, Buzbee and his firm were sued for extortion by an unnamed John Doe, who we now know was Jay-Z himself.

]]>The writings 26-year-old Luigi Mangione allegedly had on him when he was arrested as the prime suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson do not refer to his alleged victim by name or even as an individual person connected to a particular company.
“These parasites had it coming,” Mangione is said to have written.
Note the plural. Also note that when he was arrested at a McDonald’蝉 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on Monday morning, Mangione allegedly also possessed what police believe was the ghost gun likely used to kill Thompson on a Manhattan sidewalk last week.
]]>The main person of interest in the recent shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, now identified as Luigi Mangione, was apprehended and charged with murder on Monday. In her monologue reacting to the news, After Midnight host Taylor Tomlinson admitted that, like a lot of the internet, she too found the CEO assassin physically attractive.
“All of the other late night shows already covered the fact that everyone thinks the shooter is hot,” Tomlinson said, “But I feel confident that I’m the only late-night host who can honestly say: ‘Would.’”
Tomlinson admitted that one picture can be deceiving, however. She joked, “I’ve been on dating apps for a long time. I’m going to need to see four to six more photos. OK?”
]]>The mother of Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, reported him missing on Nov. 18, the New York Post reported Monday, citing sources in law enforcement. Mangione, 26, had not been in touch with family members after he had a back surgery months ago. His last known address was in Honolulu, Hawaii, police have said. A roommate of his there, R.J. Martin, told CNN that Mangione had mentioned having back problems. “When I first interviewed him, before he moved in, I remember he said he had a back issue, and he was hoping to get stronger in Hawaii,” he said, adding that even surfing caused extreme pain. Martin said that after the surgery, Mangione showed him an X-ray of screws that had been implanted in his spine. The banner image of Mangione’蝉 X account includes the same—or a similar—image. At the time of his capture, Mangione was in possession of writings critical of the health-care industry, according to authorities. At the scene of the killing, bullet casings were found reading “deny,” “defend,” and “depose”—a potential allusion to a book on controversial insurer tactics.

Prosecutors in Manhattan charged Luigi Mangione with murder on Monday night, according to New York criminal court records. Mangione, 26, was charged with murder, as well as three weapons charges for possessing a loaded firearm and a silencer, and one charge for possession of a “forged instrument.” Mangione was arrested at a McDonald’蝉 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, earlier on Monday, and quickly identified as the suspected shooter of Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare. Thompson was shot and killed in an apparently “targeted” attack last week in broad daylight outside a Manhattan hotel. Mangione is also facing multiple additional charges in the Keystone State, including carrying a gun without a license, tampering with records or identification, and providing false identification to law enforcement. Mangione was jailed in Altoona following an arraignment on Monday night, and will have to be extradited back to New York to face the murder charges. The Manhattan District Attorney’蝉 Office did not immediately return a request for comment from the Daily Beast.

In November, Marocco and his wife, Merritt, were alleged by Sedition Hunters, a group of citizen investigators, to have been inside the Capitol while Trump supporters sought to prevent the peaceful transition of power. Neither Marocco nor his wife have been charged, and the former Trump official reacted to the allegation in a statement to D Magazine, which read in part: “Petty smear tactics and desperate personal attacks by politicians with no solutions.”

I’ve always dreamed of having a luxe, full-sized velvet sofa that’蝉 both contemporary and mid-century-inspired. That is, until I was introduced to Sabai’蝉 miraculously durable sofas. While style and aesthetics are a top priority when it comes to my furniture lineup, in reality, we all need a couch that checks all the usual boxes and wouldn’t just look good on an imaginary magazine cover: good looks, comfort, sustainability, and durability. This sectional blends a modern aesthetic with practical features and eco-conscious materials that hold up to my unruly dogs, making it a standout contender for your living room centerpiece that can actually be used. A 2020 Trump campaign legal adviser who begged for the Supreme Court to intervene in the presidential election over baseless claims of fraud, Dhillon’蝉 track record indeed falls squarely on the side of conservative causes.
]]>Lawyers for Jay-Z, the rapper born Shawn Carter, argued that the anonymous victim who accused the hip-hop legend of raping her when she was 13 alongside disgraced music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs should be required to identify herself for the lawsuit to move forward.
The shocking sexual assault allegations against Carter, 55, were revealed after his name was added to a civil lawsuit filed by an alleged victim of Combs, the founder of Bad Boy Records who is facing numerous federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
The suit was filed by Tony Buzbee, a Texas attorney representing a number of people who say they were sexually assaulted and/or drugged by Diddy since his rise to fame in the 1990s. In this particular case, a woman accused both Carter and Combs of drugging and raping her at an afterparty following the 2000 Video Music Awards. The victim stated she was 13 at the time.

He had been the valedictorian of his private Maryland high school—Gilman, where annual tuition is currently $35,000—graduating in 2016. He was strong, good-looking, and smart: a golden son in a sprawling Baltimore family whose wealth had been built by his grandfather, Nicholas Mangione Sr.
The dynasty’蝉 business interests ranged from hotels and country clubs to a radio station and a care facility for seniors that most recently declared $36 million in annual revenue. Luigi was, among dozens of Nicholas’ grandchildren—there were already 37 in 2008—the heir to his grandfather’蝉 empire.

He was seen in the mugshot wearing a black scarf and coat, flashing a steely-eyed stare at the camera. After a tip from a McDonald’蝉 worker in the city, police closed in and arrested Luigi Mangione. He has been charged with five crimes, including carrying a gun without a license, forgery, falsely identifying himself to the authorities and possessing “instruments of crime,” according to The New York Times. “Responding officers questioned the suspect, who was acting suspiciously and carrying multiple fraudulent IDs as well as a U.S. passport,” New York City Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch told reporters Monday. “Upon further investigation, officers recovered a firearm on his person, as well as a suppressor, both consistent with the weapon used in the murder.” He later posed for a booking photograph at State Correctional Institution (SCI) Huntingdon in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.

She even penned an op-ed in the newspaper only a year earlier comparing the Republican-lead government of Florida to the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista in Cuba. Valdés seemed to address some of this disconnect in her statement on Monday, telling her constituents “I know I won’t agree with my fellow Republican House members on every issue, but I know that in their caucus, I will be welcomed and treated with respect.”

Luigi Mangione, the person of interest arrested in connection with the grisly killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last week in New York City, was escorted to his preliminary arraignment in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania in handcuffs alongside a squad of police officers from multiple departments.
In the first footage published since his identification as a suspect in Thompson’蝉 shooting death last Wednesday outside of a Hilton hotel in Midtown Manhattan, the steely-eyed 26-year-old was taken out of a car by officers and into the courthouse for his initial appearance.
Shortly after Mangione’蝉 arrival, a criminal complaint cited by The New York Times indicated he had been charged with five crimes in Pennsylvania, including carrying a gun without a license, forgery, falsely identifying himself to authorities, and possessing “instruments of crime.”

]]>The man who’蝉 been deemed a “strong person of interest” in the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson once wrote online that “violence is necessary” when “other forms of communication fail.”
That’蝉 a damning look into the mindset of Mangione, who was arrested in western Pennsylvania on Monday morning. Authorities have suggested he may soon face charges in connection to Thompson’蝉 cold-blooded slaying on a Manhattan sidewalk last week that experts say was likely tied to the gunman’蝉 disdain for the U.S. health insurance industry.
Mangione, 26, had an online presence that suggested he was sympathetic to the work of radicals. Most notably, Mangione “liked” online quotes from the infamous “Unabomber” Ted Kaczynski, who terrorized the U.S. for decades and wrote that technology was destroying the environment and human freedom.

The Knowles matriarch was screenshotted having tapped the heart icon on the post by ABC7 Chicago, which had a photo of Combs and Jay-Z with the headline, “Jay-Z, Diddy Named In Lawsuit Alleging Rape of Girl, 13.” Page Six was able to verify that Knowles’ official Instagram account had liked the post, but could not reach her for comment. Knowles later took to Instagram claiming she was hacked. She wrote: “As you all know, I do not play about my family. So if you see something uncharacteristic of me. Just know that it is not me!” Knowles has supported her daughter’蝉 marriage to the rapper in the press for years. It also follows the infamous Knowles family elevator fight in 2014, in which 叠别测辞苍肠é’蝉 sister Solange attacked the rapper in an elevator with 叠别测辞苍肠é present. That incident was never addressed publicly by Jay-Z or the family. Travel can be a total pleasure, bringing you to exciting and beautiful new places, reuniting you with friends from days gone by, and expanding your understanding of other cultures and the wider world itself. But frequent travel, especially mandatory travel for work, can be something of a drag.
Air travel can be a painstaking process, what with the commute to the airport, the snail’蝉 pace of the security line (not to mention the rather degrading security checks themselves), the frequent delays, the hours spent sitting, the stale air and the jet lag.

During a sit-down with Dax Shepard on Armchair Expert, Kudrow explained that the six cast members “worked hard at being friends.” The payoff was the chemistry between Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Courtney Cox, and the late Matthew Perry that fans love about the show. But Kudrow admitted on the podcast that the “six-way relationship took some work.”

Investigators believe he was in the city for 10 days before the shooting, at one point lifting his mask to speak to a hostel employee. ]]>Daniel Penny was acquitted of all criminal charges after the chokehold death of Jordan Neely on the subway—a case that sparked a debate on New York City’蝉 mental health resources and public safety. The jury acquitted Penny of criminally negligent homicide, after throwing out the manslaughter charge on Friday when the jury twice couldn’t come to a unanimous verdict. The charge of criminally negligent homicide would’ve put Penny behind bars for four years; the manslaughter charge had a maximum of 15 years. Penny, a former Marine, put Neely, who was homeless at the time, in a chokehold for six minutes after Neely said, “someone is going to die today,” in May 2023. No witness testified that Neely touched or made any move towards another passenger, though many testified that they were afraid of Neely during his rant. He did not have a weapon on him. Prosecutors noted that Penny kept Neely in the chokehold even after the passengers had left the train. But jurors sided with Penny’蝉 defense—that he was justified in protecting his fellow passengers in the face of an erratic homeless man, who had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and previously had over two dozen encounters with the police. The defense also questioned if it was the chokehold that killed Neely.

Pascua reportedly caught his wife, who is also a police officer, and De Asis in the throes of an extramarital affair. President-elect Donald Trump launched a baffling claim Monday that "Democrats are fighting hard to get rid of the Popular Vote in future Elections." In a post on his Truth Social network, he added: “They want all future Presidential Elections to be based exclusively on the Electoral College!” In fact, the popular vote has in recent decades heavily favored Democrats and, this year, Trump became the first Republican to win the popular vote in 20 years. Democratic candidates have won the popular vote in five of the seven presidential elections in the 21st Century, losing two of those elections to Republicans who got fewer votes on a national level. Not only is there no Democratic effort to shore up the Electoral College, many prominent Democrats—including the party’蝉 2016 nominee for president Hillary Clinton, who won more votes than Trump but lost the Electoral College—have argued in favor of a popular vote for president. It is very likely that Trump and George W. Bush, who lost the 2000 popular vote to Al Gore, would have never been elected president were it not for the Electoral College.

But missing from the list was their supporting co-star Meryl Streep, who failed to extend her streak as the most nominated actor in the award show’蝉 80-year history. Streep, who plays Short’蝉 on-screen (and possibly off-screen?) love interest, earned her 33rd Golden Globe nomination last year for Best Supporting Actress on the Hulu comedy. Gomez was a double nominee for her role in the Netflix film Emilia Pérez, which led in overall nominations with 10, followed by The Brutalist with seven and Conclave with six. Other big snubs included directors John M. Chu for Wicked: Part One and Denis Villeneuve for Dune: Part Two. Pamela Anderson was a surprise Best Actress nominee for The Last Showgirl, which the Baywatch star is hoping could lead to an Oscar nomination in the new year.

Men make up 80 percent of his listeners. Walz’蝉 anti-Rogan rule, she alleged has “never failed” her and her friends. “If they follow him we’re like, yeah, this person probably isn’t a great person and probably our values don’t align so we’re gonna move on from that. ]]>A famously lanky English soccer legend has cast his verdict on Barron Trump’蝉 skills after a clip of the 18-year-old playing went viral again. Peter Crouch became a household name in England for his exploits on the pitch, and for his comical appearance. Crouch, now retired, towered over his opponents quite like a young Barron, who was seen playing the sport in a resurfaced clip that is doing the rounds again. In it, Barron—who is now 6-foot-9, dwarfs the other kids on the pitch as he shows off an impressive array of skills. On X, Crouch shared the clip Sunday and simply said: “Baller.” Barron is reportedly soccer mad, and instead of boozing and chasing girls at college he spends his time playing the soccer game FC25, formerly known as FIFA. He also rubbed shoulders with another former England star, Wayne Rooney, when the Manchester United legend was managing D.C. United in the MLS. “(Donald) asked me to give his son football lessons,” Rooney said.

UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson’蝉 assassin appears to have a penchant for subliminal messages.
Dr. Carole Lieberman, a prominent psychiatrist and trail expert, told the Daily Beast she believes the still-anonymous killer intentionally left behind a pair of clues—including inscribed shell casings and a backpack stuffed with monopoly money—to send a message about why he carried out the cold-blooded act.
“The monopoly money conveys messages, both that UnitedHealthcare is a ripoff that steals money from patients in order to pay its executives millions, and that it is itself a monopoly,” Lieberman told the Daily Beast. “He may have planned to scatter the monopoly money around the CEO’蝉 body after he shot him, but he forgot to take the bills out of his backpack.”

]]>‘Polarization’ is officially Merriam-Webster’蝉 2024 word of the year, in a not-so-subtle nod to the U.S. in the wake of the election. The American publisher revealed the choice to AP ahead of the official announcement. “Polarization means division, but it’蝉 a very specific kind of division,” Peter Sokolowski, Merriam-Webster’蝉 editor at large, told the title. “Polarization means that we are tending toward the extremes rather than toward the center.” Merriam-Webster’蝉 choice is backed by the huge search traffic its site receives, and this year the data suggested that people wanted the exact definition of the word—especially in the lead-up to Donald Trump’蝉 election win. The site’蝉 own definition reads: “Division into two sharply distinct opposites especially: a state in which the opinions, beliefs, or interests of a group or society no longer range along a continuum but become concentrated at opposing extremes."

The former Patriots coach has reportedly had two interviews with the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill to coach the Tar Heels, CBS Sports reported after the second meeting last Thursday. But in a segment with his former teammates Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman, the trio of former Patriots all immediately said they could not imagine their former coach in the role. “[Belichick] getting out there on the recruiting trail and dealing with all these college kids, that would be priceless,” Brady said. “Could you imagine Bill on a coach, recruiting an 18-year-old?” Edelman asked. “Listen, you don’t really want to come here, and we don’t really want you anyway,” said Brady, impersonating his famously dour former coach. “I mean, I guess you could come. We’ll figure out if you’ll play.” Not to be outdone, Gronkowski also offered his impression of the former Patriots coach dealing with college athletes. “If you bring your parents and use them as a third party, you’re gone.
